For months now, I’ve been closely watching and reading the reactions to the TikTok ban. It’s disheartening, to say the least. No justification appears to be sufficient for Tiktok supporters. Try to make any of the common arguments about security, safety, or privacy and the counterarguments come fast and furious.

When it comes to the TikTok debate, the national security argument may be spot on, but the mode of delivery and the messenger make all the difference. The U.S. government has done a terrible job of explaining to the American public why TikTok needs to be banned.

To understand why TikTok matters, we need to look at the bigger picture: China’s global strategy. The CCP has made no secret of its ambition to reshape the global order. Their goal is to supplant the U.S. as the dominant global power, economically, technologically, and militarily. This isn’t conjecture; it’s laid out in their policies and speeches.
