Position: Program Associate for project addressing state-sponsored disinformation 

Location: Remote / Greater New York preferred

Time commitment: Part-time, up to 20 hours/week over a period of 6 months, with option to extend

Job Description: Becera is seeking a part-time Program Associate to support a project that aims to identify and assess tools and approaches that can address state- and nonstate-sponsored disinformation. The Program Associate will assist efforts to identify and evaluate counter-disinformation technologies, including developing projects and organizing events around linking technologies to identified challenges. Tasks will include the following:

  1. Assist with the organization of global counter-disinformation events, virtual or in-person

  2. Assist with outreach to relevant global stakeholders, from governments to academia to private sector, to raise awareness of counter disinformation efforts and relevant technologies

  3. Assist with developing projects related to matching technologies with counter-disinformation challenges

  4. Assist with researching, writing, and publishing on disinformation-related topics

  5. Assist with additional project matters, as needed

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree (or Bachelor’s with 2+ years of experience) in any of the following or related fields: international relations, political science, strategic communications, psychology, computer science, data science, or economics

  • Research and writing experience and ability to synthesize complex topics for a lay audience

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work remotely

  • U.S. citizen

Desired Skills

  • General understanding of web, application, and mobile communication technologies

Compensation: Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience
