Position: Intern for research project addressing defense tech innovation

Location: Remote / Greater New York preferred

Time commitment: Up to 10 hours/week over a period of 2 months

Job Description: Becera is seeking a Research Intern to assist with a research project in support of a government client that aims to explore the impact of multi-stakeholder community engagement on defense technology identification, assessment, and acquisition. The project will explore how to resource innovation across silos, including from non-traditional sources, to apply technology for national security aims more efficiently. The Research Intern will be an integral part of a small team conducting research and writing, reporting directly to the CEO. Tasks will include the following:

  1. Conduct research on existing limitations in defense tech identification, application, and acquisition

  2. Analyze input from responses to a survey on defense tech innovation

  3. Contribute to a 20-page research paper with analysis on limitations and opportunities in improving defense tech identification, application, and acquisition, with an emphasis on engaging non-traditional stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student studying any of the following or other fields related to defense tech: international relations, political science, strategic communications, computer science, data science, economics

  • Experience conducting research and written analysis in any of the aforementioned or related fields

  • Ability to work remotely

  • U.S. citizen

Compensation: $20/hr, up to 10 hours per week through early April 2024.
