We invite you to join us for the public portion of the U.S.-West Africa Tech Challenge on September 28, 2023.

The U.S.-West Africa Tech Challenge aims to advance the development of promising technologies that offer innovative solutions to help expose, understand, or counter disinformation, propaganda, and violent extremism within Coastal West Africa.

You’ll hear from technologists, government officials, civil society, academia, and media representatives discussing the following topics and more:

  • Setting the scene: Explore the challenges of disinformation, propaganda, and violent extremism in Coastal West Africa.

  • CSO approaches: Learn how civil society organizations address issues of disinformation, propaganda, and violent extremism in Coastal West Africa and beyond.

  • Private sector and technology company perspectives: Understand how technologists and the private sector address issues of disinformation, propaganda, and violent extremism and how they seek to work with partners to improve their work.

  • View from the media: Hear the approaches that media organizations and investigative journalists use to avoid disinformation, including tools and partnerships.

  • Opportunities for Innovation: Discover new innovation opportunities from our collaborators who will present their existing programs aimed at start-ups and entrepreneurs.

We will also be announcing the winners of the Tech Challenge who will receive funding totaling $250,000 USD.
